Gurgaon: Six new police stations are coming up in the city. Two of these will be dedicated cyber units.Currently, the city has four police stations — Cyber East, West, South and Manesar. The new police stations are proposed in Sector 93, Sector 46, Gawalpahari and Haileymandi — areas that witnessed rapid urbanisation and increasing population density.
The expansion plan includes proposals for one additional cyber police station each in the east and west zones, reflecting the rising number of cybercrime cases and the growing dependence on digital policing. The decision was taken during a C-level committee meeting, chaired by police commissioner Vikas Arora at Police Lines on Monday. An officer said that senior officers were directed to pursue coordination with higher authorities and departments concerned to ensure early identification and allocation of land and other necessary resources so that the stations can be made operational at the earliest. The meeting was attended by deputy commissioners of police from all zones of the city, besides other senior officers. Along with discussions on security preparedness, the committee placed strong emphasis on welfare measures aimed at improving the working and living conditions of police personnel and their families. As part of these initiatives, a Yogeshwar Vatika was developed inside the police lines to help personnel unwind and adopt a stress-free lifestyle. In addition, special spaces for senior citizens were prepared in all three police lines — Gurgaon, Manesar and Bhondsi. At the Gurgaon police lines, a dedicated rest hall for elderly men and women is nearing completion. “The facility includes Kota stone flooring, a tin shed, a storeroom, adequate electricity, fans, tube lights and iron grills and pipes for security. Landscaping work was also carried out with the plantation of Ashok plants,” the officer added. The police commissioner directed officers to complete remaining works, such as grinding of the stone flooring and installation of flex boards, within the next 10 days and make the facility functional.Cleanliness and hygiene were also discussed in detail, the officer said. “New public toilets for women and men were constructed behind the administrative block near the parade ground. Officers were instructed to ensure construction of additional public toilets in other identified areas around the parade ground within one month,” the officer said.To promote physical fitness, cricket practice nets and synthetic badminton courts were also developed within the police lines.Arora underlined that improving facilities for police personnel directly enhances efficiency and morale.
