Bhubaneswar: At least six persons were killed and several others were critically injured in two separate road accidents in Balangir and Koraput districts on Sunday.In Balangir, four members of a family were killed after the motorcycle in which they were travelling was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Pandren village. The deceased were identified as Khira Putel of Turekela, his wife, Kuni Putel, their six-year-old grandson, Debashis Putel, and son-in-law, Mohan Putel.Police said the four were returning home after completing some work at Dhourakhaman village when the accident occurred. Local villagers rushed to the scene and found them dead, following which police were informed.A joint team from Turekela and Kantabanji police stations reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Kantabanji hospital for post-mortem examination. Efforts are on to identify and trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.In another incident in Koraput district, two persons were killed and five others were critically injured after two motorcycles collided head-on near Peturu junction on the Sunki-Ampabali road around 6 pm. The deceased were identified as Seda Anita and Chinta Ekubu.Police said a family from Barigaon in Andhra Pradesh were travelling on a bike towards Gumudupaadu village when their two-wheeler collided with another motorcycle.
