549 penalised for unauthorised travel at Danapur railway station

Patna: Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) conducted a rigorous ticket checking drive at Danapur station targeting long-distance mail and express trains late Tuesday evening. The operation continued till 9.30pm and resulted in penalties for 549 passengers. A total fine of Rs 3 lakh was collected.According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager (senior DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, inspections were carried out on 11 trains, including Howrah–New Delhi Poorva Express, Patna–Kasi Jansadharan Express, Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Vikramshila Express, Islampur–New Delhi Magadh Express, Rajendra Nagar Terminal-New Delhi Sampoorna Kranti Express and Kota–Patna Express, among others. He added that additional stoppage time was provided at Danapur to ensure thorough checking in each coach.The drive aimed to ensure that passengers in reserved coaches carried valid tickets, enhancing safety and convenience. Special emphasis was placed on the safety of women passengers, particularly in reserved coaches. Unauthorised travel, which often leads to overcrowding and discomfort, was the primary focus, he said.The drive received a positive response from genuine passengers, many appreciating the enhanced vigilance by railway authorities. The senior DCM said the railways would continue to intensify such measures to promote fair travel practices and improve overall safety on trains.
