Chandigarh: A review meeting of the NAKSHA pilot project was held under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav to assess the progress of field survey and ground-truthing activities. The meeting was attended by the additional deputy commissioner, officials from the Survey of India, representatives of NIC, MC Chandigarh, NPMU Delhi, and MPSEDC Bhopal (via video-link).
Officials informed that Sectors 2 to 17 comprise about 7,000 properties, including residential and commercial units. Of these, approximately 4,500 properties have been physically visited by NAKSHA field teams for ground truthing and verification.Currently, about 20 field teams are deployed daily for the survey. Despite challenging weather conditions, officials said the exercise is making steady progress and is expected to be completed by Jan 31, 2026.The deputy commissioner appreciated the efforts of the departments and agencies involved and stressed the importance of completing the pilot project on time, noting that accurate and reliable property records depend on it.The Chandigarh administration has appealed to residents and property owners to cooperate with survey teams and provide necessary ownership and property details whenever requested, to ensure smooth and timely completion of the exercise.
