4 arrested for religious conversion

Varanasi: The Kerakat police in Jaunpur arrested four persons on charges of luring poor families to convert and embrace Christianity. According to Kerakat police station in-charge Deependra Singh, some locals alerted police that some persons gathered at Tariyari village in Kerakat area and lured people to convert and embrace Christianity. Soon after, police raided the location and found that Ajay Kumar organised a prayer at his home, and invited poor families to convince them to convert. After recovering a poster containing Christian religious propaganda, 26 Holy Bibles, and other literature, police arrested four persons—Ajay Kumar, Rajbali, Diwakar, and Awdhesh. They were booked under Sections 3/5(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act and sent to jail after being produced before the court
