33kV substation to boost power supply to Greater Noida villages

Noida: A 33kV power substation, coming up in Dadri’s Duriyai Kacheda, is expected to improve electricity supply across a dozen villages in Greater Noida. Construction of the Rs 35-crore project began on Jan 21.The substation is expected to address the power needs of over a dozen villages, including Girdharpur, Hathipur, Kheda and Bisnuli. The project encompasses land acquisition and infrastructure development. The chief engineer of the Noida power department, PVVNL, Sanjay Kumar Jain said the substation’s commissioning will ensure better, regular and high-quality electricity supply to rural areas, significantly benefiting agriculture, industries and domestic consumers. “The villages benefiting from this development are strategically located near major transit points like the Dankaur railway station, making them integral to the rapidly evolving Noida-Greater Noida region within NCR,” he said.Key local leaders, including GB Nagar MP Dr Mahesh Sharma, Dadri MLA Tejpal Singh Nagar, Sanjay Sharma, chairman of the Chhapraula Cooperative Society, as well as officials and employees of the electricity department, played a significant role in securing approvals and facilitating the construction of the substation.Residents have welcomed this move, describing the establishment of the power substation as a positive step towards regional development and an answer to their long-standing electricity supply issues. A resident of village Kacheda, Brijpal Bhati said, “Once the substation is operational, we hope the supply to our villages will improve and we will not face long outages lasting over four to six hours in summer,” he said.
