Panaji: The directorate of fire and emergency services (DFES) will depute 30 fire officers, and two fire tenders in Panaji on Feb 14, to ensure fire safety protection. The parade route will from the old Mandovi bridge to DB Ground on Saturday.The route will have a mini fire tender, a fire truck, and two motor vehicles deputed on the day of the event. A senior fire officer at DFES said, “We will ensure maximum fire safety and prevention efforts to avoid any incident like the fire at the nightclub. The mini fire tender will be present at Old Mandovi Bridge, where the parade will commence, while the fire truck will be present near Adil Shah Palace.” He said that portable fire extinguishers will also be kept on standby.
“The event organisers have been instructed to obtain a fire NOC before constructing any temporary structure on the parade route. We will also keep the team at the headquarters informed about the event proceedings, so that we can call for reinforcements if needed,” the senior officer added.
