3 MBBS students, 2 teachers held in exam dummy racket

Jaipur: Rajasthan police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) Tuesday said it arrested five people, including three MBBS students and two govt teachers, for allegedly appearing as dummy candidates in Rajasthan Public Service Commission’s (RPSC) Senior Teacher recruitment exam-2022. One more suspected MBBS student was detained and is being brought to Jaipur for questioning.Additional Director General (SOG) Vishal Bansal said the arrested accused were identified as Mahesh Kumar Bishnoi, an MBBS fourth-year student, Mahipal Bishnoi, also an MBBS fourth-year student in Kota, Sahi Ram, an MBBS fourth-year student in Port Blair, Hanumana Ram, a govt teacher; and Niwas Kurada, also a govt teacher. “Each of them carried a reward of Rs 10,000,” Bansal said. Another suspected dummy candidate, Prince, an MBBS student from Kolkata, was rounded up and is being brought to Jaipur, he added.

DIG (SOG) Paris Deshmukh said RPSC conducted the Senior Teacher examination in Dec 2022 for General Knowledge, Educational Psychology and Science subjects. After the GK and educational psychology paper was leaked, the examination was cancelled and reconducted in Jan 2023. Deshmukh said complaints later surfaced that some candidates secured selection by using dummies.An FIR was registered in 2023 against 14 candidates and others. During the investigation, SOG developed specialised software to match candidates’ photographs with the state’s one-time registration database. Through digital matching and technical analysis, six dummy candidates carrying rewards were identified.SOG teams conducted simultaneous raids at six locations across Andaman, Kolkata, Jalore, Kota and Jaipur around 10am on Monday. Officials said the accused allegedly took between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh to appear in place of the original candidates.
