Gurgaon: Three men have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 42-year-old commuter and robbing him of Rs 25,000 after luring him into a car on the pretext of offering a ride.According to police, the incident took place on Jan 28 when the victim had come to the city for office work.

Around 6pm, he was waiting for a bus to Dharuhera when a Swift Dzire car with four youths inside stopped near him.

The driver offered to drop him for Rs 50, following which the man got into the vehicle.After travelling some distance, the occupants allegedly began assaulting the man. During the attack, they snatched his wallet, robbed him of Rs 24,000 in cash, and forced him to transfer Rs 1,000 through UPI. After committing the crime, the accused abandoned him on the road and fled, police said.The victim approached the Naharpur Rupa police post under the Sadar police station the next day and submitted a written complaint, following which an FIR was registered under the sections of assault and snatching.A police team conducted raids and arrested three accused from different locations in Gurgaon on Saturday. Those arrested include Ratan Singh Shekhawat (26) and Raghu Shekhawat (21), both residents of Jaipur, and Guddu Khan (25), a resident of Kotputli in Rajasthan. Police seized the car used in the crime and recovered Rs 6,000 in cash from the accused.During interrogation, police found that Ratan Singh works as a taxi driver in the city, while Guddu Khan is employed with a private company in Kurukshetra. A senior officer said the accused had allegedly premeditated the crime and targeted the victim by posing as passengers offering a cheap ride. Efforts are underway to trace the fourth suspect who was present in the car at the time of the incident.The accused were produced before a court on Saturday. Further investigation is underway, police said.
