Gorakhpur: Three RELATIVES were killed and four others seriously injured after an SUV rammed into a stationary trailer on NH-28 in the Hata area early Sunday. All the occupants were returning to Gorakhpur after attending a function.According to police, a truck and a half-trailer had earlier collided and were standing on the highway. Due to dense fog and high speed, the car approaching from behind failed to spot the vehicles and crashed into the trailer with tremendous force. The impact left the car completely mangled.The accident occurred around 3 am in front of the Royal Palace under Hata Kotwali limits. Locals and police struggled to pull the victims out of the wreckage. By the time they were rescued, three youths had died on the spot, police said.The deceased have been identified as Raju Verma alias Nitesh (20), Aman Verma (25) and Harish Verma (25), all residents of Ahirauli Tula Das village. The three were relatives and belonged to the same community. Four others — Mukesh Verma, Shailesh Verma, Suraj Verma and Vikas Verma — sustained serious injuries and were admitted to hospitals in Hata and Gorakhpur, with one reported to be in critical condition, police said.
