3 injured as helium balloon explodes

Rourkela: Three persons sustained injuries after a gas balloon exploded at a temple in Sundargarh on Sunday.The helium-filled balloon, which was first flown in front of Govt College, Sundargarh, on the occasion of a celebration, was then brought to the temple premises and flown again. On Sunday, a few devotees noticed the balloon didn’t have much gas and lowered it. Basant Kumar Patnaik and Bibhuti Bhusan Mohanty were refilling the balloon when it exploded and caught fire. Patnaik, Mohanty and Pandu Charan Pradhan sustained burn injuries. They were rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Sundargarh and later shifted to the Govt Medical College & Hospital, Sundargarh. Later, Patnaik and Mohanty were shifted to Ispat General Hospital. While one of them has been discharged, Pradhan has been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.Town police has not received any FIR in this regard.
