Bhubaneswar: The special crime unit (SCU) of city police have seized 370 grams of brown sugar and arrested three persons in an operation, police said on Saturday.The accused were identified as Sameer Khan alias Muna, 44, Sk Irsad Mohammad alias Surya, 23, and Munaf Khan alias Mona, 22. Police said all 3 were residents of Balasore district. Police said the action followed a coordinated intelligence input that prompted the SCU to mount surveillance focused on suspected brown sugar movement in the city. “After tracking the suspects, the team intercepted them near Shyama Shyam Dham Road, close to Doordarshan Kendra, under Saheed Nagar police station limits, where they allegedly gathered to conduct an illegal narcotics transaction. The team moved in swiftly and seized 370 grams of brown sugar from the accused,” said police commissioner S Dev Datta Singh.The accused are being interrogated to gather information on their modus operandi and possible links to a wider supply network, police said. They said the accused will be produced before a court.
