2,719 clear PCS-2024 Mains examination, to vie for 947 posts

Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has declared the results of Combined State/Senior Subordinate Services (PCS) Examination-2024 (main written examination) late Wednesday night. A total of 2,719 candidates have been declared successful for the interview stage. The result are available on the commission’s official website (https://uppsc.up.nic.in). The PCS examination is being conducted to fill 947 posts in various departments of the Uttar Pradesh govt.

The written examination was held from June 29 to July 2, 2025, in Lucknow and Prayagraj in which 13,776 candidates appeared. The recruitment process covers 24 categories of posts, which include key administrative and subordinate services in the state. According to the commission, out of the 947 posts, selection on 60 will be made solely on the basis of the written examination. However, the result for these posts will be declared along with the final selection result. For the remaining 887 posts, the selection process consists of both the written examination and an interview. Against these posts, 2,719 candidates have been shortlisted. UPPSC secretary Ashok Kumar said 15 writ petitions related to the PCS examination are currently pending before the Allahabad High Court. The results of candidates who are petitioners in these cases have not been declared at present. The results of such candidates will remain subject to the final decisions passed by the High Court. In addition, the result of women candidates belonging to states outside Uttar Pradesh will also remain subject to the final judgment of the High Court in a special appeal filed by the Uttar Pradesh govt. Kumar clarified that detailed information regarding post preferences and the interview schedule will be issued separately. He further stated that the marks obtained by candidates in the main examination, along with cut-off marks and other related details, will be released only after the declaration of the final selection result. Therefore, candidates have been advised not to submit applications under the Right to Information Act, 2005, seeking details related to marks or cut-off scores at this stage.
