27 schools set for 4cr infra revamp

Ghaziabad: Twenty-seven govt schools across the district will undergo renovation and expansion this year. The UP govt has sanctioned Rs 4.6 crore for the project, aimed at improving learning conditions and addressing space constraints in overcrowded classrooms.District basic education officer O.P. Yadav said that construction work in all 27 schools will begin shortly and is expected to be completed before the start of the 2025–26 academic session.Officials from the basic education department said that Rs 2 crore was released as the first instalment to begin the construction and repair work. The funds will be used to build new classrooms, toilets, and school buildings.“Construction of classrooms in 20 schools will begin soon, while five schools will get dedicated classrooms for differently-abled students,” said a senior official. He added that the remaining Rs 2.5 crore will be released in the second installment once the first phase of work is completed.Currently, several council schools in the district face severe space shortages, forcing two or three classes to function in a single room. The new infrastructure will ease this pressure and create a more conducive environment for students and teachers.Among the selected schools, nine are in the Loni block, four in Rajapur, one in Muradnagar, one in Bhojpur, three in the city area, and ten in the urban region. In addition, Rs 30 lakh has been earmarked for the construction of a block resource centre (BRC) building, which is in poor condition.
