21k awarded degrees at Sarvajanik University convocation

Surat: Sarvajanik University’s fourth convocation was held at MTB Cricket Ground on Friday, where 2,114 students were conferred degrees for graduate, postgraduate and diploma programmes. In recognition of outstanding performance, 53 students were also awarded gold medals. The convocation was held in the presence of chief guest Dr Rakesh Mohan Joshi, vice-chancellor of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), and Ravi Tripathi, former judge of the Gujarat high court, apart from provost Kiran Pandya. Sarvajanik University chairman Ashish Vakil said: “When the university was established in 2021, it recorded 2,465 first-year admissions in 48 academic programmes. In just four years, we proudly welcomed 3,453 new students into 53 programmes, with a thriving academic family of 9,239 enrolled students. Many of our constituent colleges are 4-5 star rated. We added 84,711 square feet of facilities to our campus. In the coming year, we will complete construction of an additional 123,841 square feet. The university spent more than Rs 35 lakh on scholarships.” Of the 2,114 degrees awarded, 199 pertain to the BRCM Institute, 92 to IDPT, 19 to FOM, 118 to SCCCA, 664 to SCET, 114 to SCOL, 32 to SCOPA, 45 to SCTCC, 577 to SRKI and 254 to SRLIM of the university.
