2 tents turn to ashes in fire at mela camp

Prayagraj: A fire broke out at two tents at the campus of Shri Ram Naam & Manav Prachar Sangh near Sangam Lower Chauraha in Sector 5 under the limits of Jhunsi Police Station of Magh Mela on Tuesday evening.Timely intervention by the fire department managed to control the fire before it could spread to other tents. According to officials, the fire probably resulted from a short circuit caused by power fluctuations.

Chief fire officer (Magh Mela) Animesh Singh told TOI, “We were alerted about a fire breaking out at a tent around 17:45 pm, and a two-wheeler fire vehicle on duty was immediately rushed to the spot. Within no time, as many as six fire service vehicles also arrived at the scene, and firefighting operations were promptly initiated.” Two tents were reduced to ashes in the incident. There were no casualties. The CFO said, “Locals also reported the burning of a diya as the cause of the incident. A team from the fire department and Mela police is probing the case.” tnn
