Hyderabad: With resumption of schools post-Sankranti vacation, two teachers, who were car pooling, died in a road accident at Aravapally village in Suryapet district on Saturday morning. The accident took place after the car driver lost control and the vehicle veered off the carriageway on National Highway-365 B. Speeding is suspected to be the cause of the accident.Teachers Kalpana, 48, and Geetha Reddy, 40, died, while A Praveen, his sister Sunitha Rani, and car driver Giri suffered injuries. The car belonged to Geetha Reddy, and had employed Giri as driver for the last eight months.
Aroun 7.30am, the four govt school teachers, including three women, working in different schools were car pooling from Nalgonda to reach Thungathurthi in Suryapet. When they reached Aravapally, the driver moved the vehicle away from the margin line on the left side and, within a few seconds, the car went off the road before falling on boulders and hitting a tree, which lay a few feet below the BT road. Three others escaped with injuries. including Praveen was seated in the front passenger seat.“The speeding car first fell on the boulders and then flipped. The three women, who were seated in the rear passenger seat, took the full impact of the car striking against the boulders. Special officer Kalpana died on the spot, whereas Geetha died while she was being shifted in an ambulance,” Aravapally sub-inspector Saidulu told TOI.“Recently, they got transferred to Thungathurthi on promotion,” the SI said. Police said a case was registered against the driver on the charge of negligence causing death.
