Ghaziabad: To improve access to Indirapuram and Vasundhara, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has planned to construct two new ramps and a cloverleaf interchange on the Hindon Elevated Road. The Authority has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to appoint a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the project, with construction expected to begin within six months.Officials said the project aims to address long-standing gaps in connectivity that have limited the use of the elevated corridor, particularly for traffic heading towards UP Gate. Under the plan, two ramps, each about 400 metres long, will be built at Vasundhara and Kanawani. At present, Vasundhara is connected only towards the Raj Nagar Extension (RNE) side of the elevated road, with no direct access towards UP Gate. Similarly, the existing provision at Kanawani allows vehicles to merge only from the RNE direction. The proposed ramps will enable two-way access, allowing vehicles to enter and exit the elevated road towards UP Gate from both Indirapuram and Vasundhara. In addition, a cloverleaf interchange is proposed near the Kanawani culvert to streamline traffic movement and reduce conflict points. Officials said this would ease congestion on adjoining surface roads and improve traffic dispersal in densely populated residential areas.“An RFP has been invited to prepare the DPR for constructing additional ramps on the Hindon Elevated Road at Kanawani and Vasundhara. Once the DPR is finalised, tenders will be floated and physical work is likely to begin within six months,” GDA assistant engineer Rudresh Shukla said.Last year, GDA sought Rs 200 crore in financial assistance from the state govt for the project. The 10.3 km Hindon Elevated Road was commissioned in 2018, which connected 2 farthest points of the city—UP Gate at the Delhi border and the gates of Rajnagar Extension township. It reduced commuting time from one part of the city to the other to 10 minutes, which earlier took about 1 hour.
