Varanasi: Dakshin Tola police in Mau district arrested two notorious thieves for looting four dialysis machines worth Rs 26 lakh from Azmi Hospital in Hakikatpura with the help of a technician on Sunday.Mau ASP Anoop Kumar said, “Following a tip-off, a police team comprising Sumit Gautam, Vishesh Yadav, Ansh, Pandit and Babua cordoned off the Matlupur flyover. During checking, a pickup van was seen suddenly turning onto the service road on spotting the police. “While trying to flee, the vehicle got stuck, and alert police personnel apprehended two accused, Amarnath Dixit and Rajkumar, both residents of Gomtinagar in Lucknow. During interrogation, they revealed that they were running several hospitals in the state capital. After taking loans and failing to repay them, they faced a severe financial crisis and urgently needed money.“They disclosed that Vishesh Yadav, a technician at Azmi Hospital, came in contact with them and told them that dialysis machines could be easily stolen. Subsequently, Dixit, with his associates Sumit Gautam, Vishesh Yadav, Ansh, Pandit, Babua and others, executed the plan on the night of Jan 23 by taking the hospital technician ‘hostage’. tnn“They transported the machines along with the technician to Lucknow in a pickup van(UP32KN2133). Fearing arrest, they later left Lucknow for Ghazipur to sell the dialysis machines. All four dialysis machines, the pickup van, Rs 4,000 in cash and two mobile phones were recovered from the accused,” the ASP said.
