Ludhiana: Samrala police on Monday detained two persons in a car and recovered 48 kilograms silver jewellery from their vehicle near Hedon. Both individuals are residents of Ludhiana. Police said a team from Samrala deployed at a checkpoint near Hedon police post spotted the accused in a Hyundai i20 coming from Ludhiana side. During a search, police recovered 48 kilograms of silver jewellery from the car. Officials said the occupants were unable to produce any relevant documents for the consignment. The income tax department was informed about the recovery. Further action will be taken under the law. Police noted that similar recoveries have taken place in the past. In Jan 2023, Doraha police detained two persons after recovering more than 166 kilograms of silver from a car on Ludhiana-Delhi National Highway, near Doraha.
