2 held for abducting, torturing 5 minors on theft suspicion in Nathupur

Gurgaon: Two men were arrested for abducting, torturing and confining five boys for several hours after suspecting them of theft from an under-construction building in the Nathupur area of Gurgaon on Wednesday, police said, adding that they were looking for three or four more men involved in the crime.The arrested men were identified as Harendra (35), a Gurgaon resident who runs a flour mill and is also involved in rental property work, and Firoz (26), a native of Uttar Pradesh who owns a utensil shop in the city.

According to police, the children, aged between 10 and 13 years, were picked up when they were playing near a building construction site by the accused on Monday. The men accused the boys of stealing iron rods and other construction material from the site and took them to a nearby paying guest accommodation, being run by one of their associates.Parents of the children had begun looking for them on Monday. On Tuesday, two women received information that their children were being confined inside a room nearby. They encountered the accused when they reached the spot. When the women demanded the release of their children, the accused allegedly abused them and refused to open the room, relenting only after repeated pleas.The parents alleged that one of the accused poured petrol on the children’s private parts. They also alleged that hot spoons were used on their bodies. The accused are not involved with the construction work or the project being carried out at the site.Following the complaint lodged on Tuesday at DLF Phase 3 police station, police registered a case under relevant sections and launched an investigation. On Wednesday, a police team led by sub-inspector Pingaksh, in-charge of the Nathupur police post, arrested the two accused.During interrogation, the accused revealed that they often gathered near the site to smoke hookah and discussed repeated thefts of construction material by unknown persons or scrap dealers. Acting on suspicion, they detained the children and assaulted them. The children are undergoing medical examinations and necessary legal procedures. Further investigation is ongoing, officials said.
