Jharsuguda: Police arrested four persons and seized 6.36 grams of brown sugar here on Friday during a drive under ‘Operation Netra’. Police said a coordinated surveillance and intelligence-led operation was carried out on Friday leading to the arrest of the four persons allegedly involved in procuring and selling the contraband. The main accused, Manjay alias Anurag Singh, 35, from Bihar’s Ara, resides in a rented house in Biju Nagar area and procured brown sugar/heroin along with other stimulants from Jitu alias Abinash Kumar, 33, from Ghousganj in Bihar. He then sold drugs with the help of his local associates — Ananta Kumar Panda, 52, and Mantu Dash, 31 — in Jharsuguda.Officers recovered brown sugar, white powder and stone-like stimulants, drug packaging materials, four mobile phones, a weighing scale, a motorcycle and Rs 2,770 in cash.The accused have been booked under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act. Police said efforts are on to identify and apprehend other members of the drug network operating between Bihar and Odisha.
