2 cousins among 3 killed as bike crashes into signboard

Kanpur: Three men, including two cousins, died after a speeding bike went out of control and crashed into an iron signboard near Gadorwa village in Purwa police station area of Unnao district, about 40 kilometres from the district headquarters late night on Friday. The men were travelling to Lucknow to attend a ‘Bhandara’ programme at their aunt’s house and were not wearing helmets. The accident occurred at a blind turn near the bridge over the Lon River on the Achalganj-Purwa Road. The collision was so severe that all three were thrown 10 feet away and writhed in pain for about half an hour before passers-by noticed them and informed the police.Police reached the spot after receiving information but by then two youths had died. The third was taken to hospital for treatment, where he also died during treatment.The deceased were identified as Anurag (31), son of Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Adholi village in the Beeghapur police station area of Unnao district; his cousin Rahul Pal (26), a resident of Besankheda, and their friend Saurabh Gautam (25), a resident of Taura. All three were travelling on an Apache bike.Anurag left around 10 pm to attend the ‘Bhandara’ organised at his aunt’s house in Mohanlalganj. When the bike reached the blind turn near the Lon River bridge in Gadorwa village, it went out of control due to high speed and collided heavily with an iron signboard placed on the roadside. Anurag and Rahul died on the spot, while Saurabh lay injured on the road.Hearing the loud sound of the accident, nearby people came running, and village head Praful Patel also reached the spot. Station officer Amarnath Yadav reached the accident site with police force and sent injured Saurabh to CHC Purwa by ambulance.Dr Tapan Gupta, on duty at CHC Purwa, declared Saurabh Gautam dead. Police informed the families of the deceased through mobile, after which mourning spread in all three homes.Anurag was a truck driver and supported his family by driving trucks. He married Roshni Devi three years ago and became a father to a daughter just three days before the accident. His newborn daughter’s ‘chhathi’ ceremony was to be celebrated on Sunday.Rahul’s marriage was fixed, and his wedding procession was to leave on April 25. Saurabh Gautam had a younger brother, Shiva, at home. He operated a JCB while staying at his uncle’s place in Sikandarpur and also worked in Pune.
