Hyderabad: Two residents of Kondapur have reportedly lost over 4 crore in two separate stock market trading frauds operated through fake platforms, and Cyberabad cyber crime police registered cases and launched an investigation to nab the offenders. In the first complaint, a 57-year-old private worker from Kondapur alleged that he was added to a WhatsApp group ‘95 Barclays Group India Wealth Advisory Panel’ on Dec 11, 2025 by administrators posing as CEO, Professor CS Venkatakrishnan and analyst, Sanya Joshi. The duo promised 5% daily returns, exclusive upper-circuit trades and high-yield IPO allotments, and guided him to open an internal equity account on a fake app.On their advice, the victim had transferred 2.93 crore into 33 bank accounts between Jan 12 and 31. “I was allowed to withdrew only 5,000 during this period,” the victim said. The victim realised that he was duped as the accused kept forcing him to add another 32 lakh towards an IPO allotment instead of letting him withdraw any amount. In another case, a 75-year-old retired electrical engineer from Kondapur lodged a complaint on Friday stating that he was added to ‘Carlyle Capital Forum G’ WhatsApp group on Dec 16, 2025 by a woman identifying herself as Sneha Sharma. She made him open a stock trading account on the site, carlyle-group.cc. Acting on instructions from another handler, Anuj Poddar, the victim transferred 1.18 crore to multiple bank accounts between Jan 5 and 28. As he attempted to withdraw profits, the fraudsters demanded an additional tax, forcing the victim to approach police.
