19-yr-old girl loses life in freak accident at pvt varsity

Ludhiana: A 19-year-old female student lost her life in a tragic accident on Wednesday after allegedly falling from the second floor of a private university in Jagraon. The deceased, identified as Shabnoor, a resident of Ludhiana, was a first-year BBA student at the institution.As per sources, the incident occurred while Shabnoor was waiting for an elevator along other students. Witnesses reported that she sat on the steel railing of a staircase. As the elevator arrived and students began to board, she suddenly lost her balance and fell backwards, plunging to the ground floor.

The fall resulted in serious injuries. Varsity staff rushed her to a hospital in Ludhiana immediately after the incident, but doctors there declared her brought dead. CCTV footage of the tragedy has since surfaced, corroborating the accounts. The video shows Shabnoor standing near the railing as another student walks toward the stairs; as she attempts to sit on the steel bar, she is seen losing her balance and falling. The footage captures a fellow student rushing toward her in a futile attempt to help.Davinder Singh, a member of the university management committee, stated that the administration was alerted to the fall around 12pm. University staff added that the family has been notified and the police are now investigating the matter.Officials from the Sadar Jagraon Police Station reached the campus shortly after receiving the report. Jagraon deputy superintendent of police Jaswinder Singh said while they are probing all angles, the fall appears to be accidental based on current evidence.
