Patna: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by her boyfriend and four of his friends after being lured to a secluded location on the pretext of marriage in Madhepura district. The minor, found unconscious the next day near the Singheshwar Sthan temple, later recorded her statement in hospital after regaining consciousness, leading to the arrest of the main accused, police said.The incident came to light when the rape survivor lodged a complaint on Wednesday, stating that she had been in a relationship with the accused for over a year.According to the police, on Jan 24, the accused called her to meet him and took her to a friend’s room where his four friends were waiting. The five men then raped her and threatened to kill her if she resisted. She lost consciousness after the assault and was found by local residents near the temple on Jan 25.The locals informed the in-charge of health authorities, following which an ambulance was dispatched. Seeing her critical condition, doctors referred her to a hospital in Madhepura. After regaining consciousness, she narrated the entire incident to the police.“We have arrested the main accused, Raushan Kumar (23), who is stated to be the victim’s distant relative. Preliminary investigation revealed that both are from the same village. Raushan is being interrogated, and police teams are conducting raids to arrest his other associates involved in the incident,” said Madhepura SP Sandeep Singh.
