Hyderabad: Around 16 students fell ill after having dinner at the integrated SC girls’ hostel in Bellampalli on Friday night. The students were immediately shifted to govt hospital in Bellampalli, where they were provided medical treatment. The food suspected of causing a health emergency is still under review.Hospital authorities said the students responded well to treatment and their condition is stable. Doctors informed officials that all the affected students recovered and were likely to be discharged by Saturday evening.On Saturday, Mancherial collector Kumar Deepak visited the hospital to enquire about the students’ health and later inspected the welfare hostel premises. He examined the hostel wards, kitchen, and surrounding areas. The collector said a show-cause notice had been issued to the hostel welfare officer, Sujatha, and that further action would be taken after reviewing her explanation. During inspection, the collector said the health of students living in welfare hostels must be given top priority.tnn
